The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has highlighted the pressing issues facing Nigeria, particularly in the northern region. He identified insecurity and poverty as the two major “monsters” plaguing the citizens, expressing concern over the dire situation.

During the 6th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council in Kaduna, the Sultan emphasized the urgency of addressing these challenges. He noted the alarming levels of agitation, hunger, and anger among the populace, especially the youth, due to widespread unemployment and poverty.

The Sultan underscored the need for honest and open discussions to find solutions to these issues. He acknowledged the continuity between the current government and its predecessors, stressing that identifying the root causes of poverty and insecurity is crucial for effective problem-solving.

Moreover, the Sultan emphasized the importance of implementing solutions rather than merely discussing them. He lamented the tendency to generate ideas during meetings but failed to follow through with practical actions afterward.

He urged for continued engagement with the people, reassuring them that positive changes are achievable through collective efforts, prayers, and proactive measures.
