Customs Vows To End Illegal Exportation To African Countries

  • The emir expressed appreciation for the service’s efforts in safeguarding the country’s economic integrity, in spite of numerous challenges.
  • He pledged the emirate’s support in facilitating legitimate trade. 

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it is determined to devise a lasting solution to end the threat of illicit grain exports from Nigeria to other African nations.

Ify Ogbudu, Zonal Coordinator, Zone B of the service revealed this during a courtesy call to Aminu Ado Bayero, Emir of Kano in his palace

Ogbudu pledged service support for distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains, highlighting the customs service’s crucial role in poverty alleviation and food security.

Bayero praised the customs service’s efforts in protecting the country’s economic integrity, urged diligence and compassion towards local traders, and stressed the importance of enlightenment and community engagement in curbing breaches.

He pledged to uphold lawful trade, praised progress in reducing trade disputes with customs authorities, and expressed gratitude for ongoing education programs assisting local merchants and dealers in pursuing legal commerce.
