  • Borno Government resettles 447 households displaced by conflict to newly constructed residences in Dalori village, emphasizing ongoing reconstruction efforts
  • Governor Zulum highlights urgency to close unofficial camps in Maiduguri, aiming to shutter at least three camps before May 29

The Borno Government has successfully resettled 447 households displaced by conflict to newly constructed residences in Dalori village, situated in Konduga Local Government Area.

Governor Babagana Zulum, speaking at the resettlement ceremony, emphasized that this initiative is integral to the state’s ongoing reconstruction, rehabilitation, and resettlement efforts. He highlighted the urgency of closing unofficial camps in Maiduguri, with a target of shuttering at least three such camps before May 29.

Governor Zulum underscored the unsustainability of prolonged reliance on camps for displaced individuals, stressing the importance of providing permanent housing solutions and essential services to affected communities. Basic amenities such as water, healthcare facilities, and schools have been established in the resettled areas, alongside initiatives to support livelihoods, including agricultural assistance and skills training for women.

Acknowledging the prevailing challenges exacerbated by inflation, Governor Zulum assured residents of ongoing efforts to mitigate hardships. He announced plans to distribute food and non-food items to 100,000 vulnerable households in Maiduguri and surrounding areas, extending similar support to vulnerable populations in the state’s southern regions.
