Amidst nationwide protests and mounting economic challenges, the presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have faced criticism for handling the country’s economic woes. Rather than dismissing critics and attributing unrest to external forces, the government must focus on concrete measures to alleviate hardship and stabilize the economy.

The recent wave of protests, according to APC spokesman Mr. Felix Morka, is viewed as a coordinated effort to disrupt governance. However, such assertions fail to address the underlying grievances of the populace. Similarly, the exchange between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s adviser, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar reflects a tendency to deflect criticism rather than engage in constructive dialogue.

Vice President Kashim Shettima’s accusations of sabotage further underscore the need for introspection within the administration. Instead of resorting to blame games, the government must acknowledge the validity of concerns raised by citizens and stakeholders.
