Renowned Yoruba nation separatist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has called on Yoruba leaders, especially the monarchs, to back him in his effort to address the perennial insecurity in the South West.
The activist said he needed the support of the traditional rulers in the Southwest to cleanse the enclave of criminality and banditry.
Igboho made this known in a statement he signed on Saturday.
He bemoaned the insecurity and crime in the south west, adding that the menace was responsible for death and farmer-herder crisis in the region.
Igboho promised to collaborate with traditional rulers to stem the tide of insecurity in the Southwest.
“I welcome the idea, and assure them that I will do my best to checkmate incidence of insecurity provided I receive the backing of the relevant security agencies, Yoruba monarchs and other stakeholders.
“Insecurity and threats precipitated by banditry, herders/farmers clashes, leading to deaths and massive destruction of farmlands have driven away farmers and agric entrepreneurs from farm settlements in Yorubaland.
“We need to flush out criminal elements, who have occupied our forests using the place as launch pads to jeopardize the peace in our communities, towns, villages and amulets. I am ready to lend my support in this regard,” he said
