To combat disease outbreaks and enhance maternal, neonatal, and child survival rates, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has generously donated medical equipment and drugs worth $290,462 to the Yobe State government.

The state has been grappling with a recent meningitis outbreak, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 22 students across three boarding schools.

Dr. Clement Adams, UNICEF’s Health Manager in Maiduguri, handed the essential equipment and medications to the Commissioner for Health in Damaturu. He emphasized that the donation bolsters maternal, neonatal, and child survival efforts.

Valued at $290,462, the equipment complements the state government’s endeavours in enhancing healthcare services. Dr. Adams highlighted that this intervention would enable pregnant women in Yobe State to access primary healthcare services conveniently.
