  • Ningi alleged that projects worth N3.7 trillion in the 2024 Appropriation Act are not traceable
  • Ningi alleged in an interview with BBC Hausa that the Federal Government was operating an N28 trillion budget, contrary to the N25 trillion passed by the National Assembly

A member of the Appropriation Committee in the Senate, Jimoh Ibrahim, says the Federal Government must charge Senator Abdul Ningi to court over alleged breach of peace in the National Assembly.

Jimoh also said Ningi should be charged for criminal misinformation.

The call followed an outburst by Ningi alleging that projects worth N3.7 trillion in the 2024 Appropriation Act are not traceable.

Ningi also alleged in an interview with BBC Hausa that the Federal Government was operating an N28 trillion budget, contrary to the N25 trillion passed by the National Assembly.

Reacting to the allegation, Jimoh told Channels TV on Monday that it is not true that the country was operating two Appropriation Acts as claimed by his colleague.

He said, “as a matter of urgency, charge Senator Ningi for criminal misinformation, and conduct likely to breach the peace of the country”.

“If the Senate will not do that within the next seven days, I will write a letter to the Inspector General of Police to investigate the circumstances leading to the approval of two 2024 Appropriation Acts and bring the culprits to book.

“It is not true that we have two Appropriations. Senator Ningi must be charged to court for conduct likely to cause breach of peace and criminal misinformation”.
