  • Maurizio Sarri resigned as Lazio manager after a 2-1 defeat to Udinese, citing unsatisfactory feedback from the team
  • Sarri decided to leave after receiving a silent response from the players, neither opposing nor advocating for his departure

Maurizio Sarri has resigned from his position as manager of Lazio following their 2-1 defeat to Udinese on Monday.

According to reports from TMW, Sarri’s decision stemmed from a lack of satisfactory feedback from the team after the disappointing loss. It is believed that Sarri conveyed his intention to resign to the squad, and their response, characterized by silence, prompted him to make the drastic move.

Although the players did not oppose Sarri’s departure, they did not advocate for him to stay. This lack of insistence led Sarri to conclude that it was best for him to leave.

Sarri, 65, took over the reins at Lazio in the summer of 2021 and has overseen 137 matches during his tenure. However, the team’s recent poor form has contributed to his decision to step down.
