  • Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo toured GreenVille LNG Ltd facility, acknowledging its role in Nigeria’s energy sector and ensuring adequate gas supply
  • GreenVille LNG operates three liquefaction trains with a total capacity of 2,250 metric tons of LNG per day, facing gas supply challenges

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, surveyed the GreenVille LNG Ltd facility in Rumuji, Rivers State, yesterday.

During the visit, managers at the plant informed the minister that GreenVille LNG currently operates three liquefaction trains with a total capacity to produce 2,250 metric tons of LNG per day. However, they noted that these trains were not operating at full capacity due to inadequate gas supply.

In response, Ekpo assured that concerted efforts were underway, involving his team and relevant agencies, to address the gas feedstock supply crisis affecting LNG production and distribution companies.

The minister commended the board and management of GreenVille LNG for their vision and dedication in spearheading the establishment of Nigeria’s first Liquefied Natural Gas production and distribution company for domestic use.

Ekpo also lauded President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove the petrol subsidy, citing its potential to unlock the country’s vast gas resources for economic growth and prosperity.

“I am impressed with what I have seen here today. We are transitioning towards zero emissions, and ensuring adequate gas supply to Nigerians is imperative,” stated Ekpo. He pledged the government’s full support under President Tinubu’s administration to increase gas supply to companies like GreenVille LNG, emphasizing their importance in advancing the nation’s energy sector.
