Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, has pledged to construct approximately 10,000 housing units before the conclusion of his tenure.

During a courtesy visit by Mr. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun disclosed that over 4,000 houses have already been constructed across the state.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the high cost of building materials, the governor affirmed the government’s commitment to providing shelter for the populace.

“We have already built around 4,000 affordable houses within four years, and our efforts are ongoing. By the time my tenure ends, we aim to reach approximately 10,000 houses,” Governor Abiodun stated.

He highlighted the success of previous housing projects, including medium and upper-income houses that have been fully sold out, equipped with infrastructure, water, and internet facilities.

Furthermore, Governor Abiodun outlined plans for a new project named the “Civil Servants Village,” spread over 50 hectares of land, designed to provide infrastructure and layout for members of the state workforce to purchase land and construct their own homes.

In response, Mr. Oladimeji Ojo commended the state government for its housing delivery initiatives and informed the governor about President Tinubu’s administration’s intention to provide affordable housing for Nigerians shortly.
