  • Bauchi State indigenes in Abuja pleaded with the Senate to reverse the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi
  • Governor Bala Mohammed and the Association of Bauchi State Indigenes criticized the Senate’s decision to suspend Ningi abruptly

Indigenes of Bauchi State convened in Abuja on Sunday to address state development concerns. They issued a plea to the Senate, urging the reversal of Senator Abdul Ningi’s suspension (PDP Bauchi Central).

Ningi faced suspension following his remarks in a BBC Hausa Service interview, alleging the insertion of N3.7 trillion in the 2024 national budget without project or location specifications.

Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, voiced solidarity with Ningi, condemning the Senate’s decision.

The Association of Bauchi State Indigenes echoed this sentiment in a communique delivered to Media Trust Limited’s headquarters after their Abuja meeting. They deemed Ningi’s suspension as premature.

Their communique stated, “The Senate’s swift suspension of Distinguished Senator Abdul Ningi was unjust, rushed, and contrary to democratic principles upheld in Nigeria. The senators failed to probe his claims thoroughly, opting for suspension without due process.”

The association urged the Senate to reconsider its decision, reinstating Senator Ningi to the democratic chamber, a move they believe aligns with the values cherished by Nigerians.
