A viral video capturing Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, sharing a meal with Muslims in an Abuja mosque has ignited discussions across social media.

The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, March 18, 2024, following the breaking of the daily Ramadan fast among Muslims.

In the footage, the former Governor of Anambra was seen eating rice from a ‘takeaway’ container and personally feeding a young boy who sat beside him, while others witnessed.

The incident has spurred a flurry of reactions on social media platforms, with Nigerians voicing diverse perspectives on Obi’s mosque visit, reportedly situated near Nyanya within the Federal Capital Territory.

Some individuals interpreted his choice to sit on the mosque floor alongside the congregation and his act of spoon-feeding a child as a display of humility, applauding his gesture. Conversely, others viewed his actions as a move driven by political motives.
