  • Former NLC President Ayuba Wabba discloses police report indicting Labour Party national chairman Julius Abure during TV interview
  • Wabba urges police to prosecute Abure, citing evasion of interrogation and detailed police report implicating him in fraudulent activities

Ayuba Wabba, former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), disclosed that a police report had indicted Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wabba addressed the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party, which escalated as members of the Nigeria Labour Congress picketed the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Wabba revealed that the report implicating Abure was submitted to him before he departed office. He asserted that Abure had been evading police interrogation and potential prosecution.

“The police have conducted a comprehensive investigation. Abure has been implicated. A detailed report was forwarded to me even before I concluded my tenure. We have urged the police to pursue legal action against him. It is evident that he has been evading law enforcement,” Wabba stated.

He continued, “The investigation has revealed fraudulent activities within the Labour Party. The police conducted a thorough probe, resulting in Abure’s indictment. I received the report and passed it on to my successor. However, there has been a delay as the report remains with the police, who hold the authority to prosecute.”

Wabba addressed allegations of politicization and blackmail surrounding the issue, emphasizing the need for the police to keep their investigation unhindered. He reaffirmed the commitment to allowing law enforcement agencies to diligently carry out their duties.
