Bayern Munich’s hope for securing the Bundesliga title dimmed significantly after a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen now sits comfortably 13 points ahead with just seven games remaining.

In an interview with Sky Germany following the match, Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel gracefully acknowledged Leverkusen’s impressive lead, congratulating the team. He admitted that it was evident and undeniable that Leverkusen would secure their inaugural Bundesliga crown.

Tuchel’s resignation to Leverkusen’s impending triumph was palpable. He reflected on Bayern’s performance, expressing disappointment in their inability to maintain a high level of play throughout the game.

Leverkusen’s path to victory seems almost assured, needing a mere nine points from their remaining matches to clinch the title for the first time in their history.

A seasoned veteran with 12 titles, Thomas Mueller conceded the improbability of Bayern staging a comeback in the league race.

The defeat compounded Bayern’s woes in a challenging week, marked by Alonso’s decision to remain as Leverkusen’s coach beyond the current season.

Tuchel lamented a controversial decision during the match, arguing that Bayern should have been awarded a penalty. The non-call, regarding Mats Hummels’ apparent handball, was deemed “catastrophic” by Tuchel.

Despite the setback, Dortmund celebrated their first victory in Munich in over a decade, with goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson securing the win. Tuchel’s frustration with the officiating was evident, as he criticized the decision that could have altered the game’s course.
