  • SMEDAN Director-General Charles Odii reaffirms the agency’s dedication to overcoming obstacles hindering MSME growth in Nigeria
  • Odii discusses SMEDAN’s ‘GROW Nigerian’ strategy, aiming to provide guidance, resources, and workforce support for SMEs to thrive

Charles Odii, the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), has affirmed the agency’s commitment to addressing the obstacles hindering the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

Following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja, Odii discussed SMEDAN’s ‘GROW Nigerian’ strategy, aimed at providing essential guidance, resources, opportunities, and workforce support for SMEs to thrive, as stated in a release by the agency on Friday.

“SMEs are at the core of the president’s mission to eradicate poverty and ensure prosperity reaches all corners of Nigeria. His commitment was evident as we discussed SMEDAN’s GROW Nigerian strategy, which includes plans to create an enabling environment for over 40 million small businesses, collectively providing over 60 million jobs. We will protect them from inflationary pressures and empower them to drive down such trends,” Odii stated.

Furthermore, he emphasized, “We will collaborate with other government agencies to simplify regulations and optimize them for growth and productivity. We will eliminate barriers that impede formalization and growth.”
