Muhammad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, has urged Muslims faithful in the country to start looking for the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH on Monday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Sambo Wali, chairman advisory committee on religious affairs, sultanate council, Sokoto, said the Sultan; “Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH on Monday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto,”
When sighted on Monday, that would bring to an end the month long Ramadan fast by Muslim faithful in the country.
The sighting of the new moon should be reported through the following numbers for onward communication to the sultan; 08037157100, 07067416900, 08066303077, 08036149757, 0803 5965322, 08099945903.
