  • Sources indicate that Anjarwalla, who holds Kenyan citizenship, may have left Abuja aboard a Middle Eastern airline

The Nigerian government has reportedly located Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla in Kenya after he escaped from custody. Anjarwalla, 38, is believed to have fled from a guest home in Abuja on Friday, March 22, where he was detained with a colleague.

He escaped while being taken to a nearby mosque for prayers during the Ramadan fast.

Sources indicate that Anjarwalla, who holds Kenyan citizenship, may have left Abuja aboard a Middle Eastern airline. Following his escape, the Nigerian government reportedly reached out to the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) to issue an arrest warrant for Anjarwalla.

According to sources close to the Nigerian Presidency, Anjarwalla went into hiding soon after arriving in Kenya, reported Sahara Reporters.

“We have found him. We know where he is. He is in Kenya, and we’re working with the authorities to bring him back to Nigeria,” the report quoted one of the sources to have said.

Another source also close to the matter, corroborated the first source’s statement.

Meanwhile, the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had in the March edition of the agency’s bulletin titled, “EFCC Alert,” which was released last week, confirmed that the commission was working in conjunction with the International Criminal Police Organisation, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, the governments of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and Kenya to extradite Anjarwalla.
