  • JAMB and the Nigeria Police Force warn candidates about fraudulent websites targeting 2024 UTME applicants for personal information
  • ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi advises candidates to print UTME Notification Slips exclusively from JAMB’s authorized website to avoid fraud

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have exposed fraudulent websites targeting candidates preparing for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

During a joint news conference held in Abuja on Saturday, both organizations warned candidates about the proliferation of fake websites designed to deceive and exploit them.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, highlighted the emergence of multiple fake websites created by unscrupulous individuals to mislead candidates. These fraudulent sites aim to extract personal information, including registration numbers, email addresses, and phone numbers, by deceiving innocent candidates into providing their UTME Notification Slips.

Expressing condemnation of these fraudulent activities, both JAMB and the Nigeria Police Force reiterated their commitment to safeguarding candidates’ interests and upholding the integrity of the examination process.

Adejobi urged candidates, parents, guardians, and stakeholders to ensure that UTME Notification Slips are printed exclusively from the Board’s authorized website: www.jamb.gov.ng. Candidates can also utilize accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide for slip printing.

He emphasized the familiarity of the police force with the tactics employed by fraudsters during annual assessment and admission exercises, affirming ongoing efforts to sensitize candidates and the public about these deceptive practices.

Adejobi cautioned that candidates visiting fake websites would encounter unreliable information and risk missing the upcoming exams. He advised candidates to print their UTME Notification Slips before Friday, April 19, 2024, to access essential examination details.

Finally, he emphasized that any website offering UTME slip printing services besides www.jamb.gov.ng is counterfeit and intended to defraud candidates.

The 2024 UTME is scheduled to commence on Friday, April 19, 2024, and conclude on Monday, April 29, 2024.
