  • The Presidential Amnesty Programme attributes the delay in March stipend disbursement to glitches in the bank processing system
  • United Bank for Africa (UBA) acknowledged the delay, citing technical issues, and assured refunds for failed transactions were processed

The Presidential Amnesty Programme has clarified the delay in disbursing March stipends to beneficiaries, attributing it to glitches in the bank processing system.

In a statement issued by the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dennis Otuaro, and conveyed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, it was disclosed that the office had already transferred the March stipends to all beneficiaries’ accounts and successfully debited the funds from its accounts.

The statement elaborated that one of the banks handling the transactions, the United Bank for Africa (UBA), had acknowledged the delay and attributed it to technical issues in its processing system. However, UBA assured that it had processed refunds for the failed transactions and deposited them into the beneficiaries’ accounts.

Following complaints from some beneficiaries, the Amnesty Office contacted UBA for clarification on the delay, and steps are being taken to ensure that all outstanding payment issues are promptly resolved.
