The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso has reacted to the alleged killing a man in the premises of the institution by a police officer.

Within Nigeria had reported on Tuesday how a police officer shot dead a supposed student while purportedly trying to settle a rift, sparking outrage and unrest in the school.

Two other persons were injured in the incident.

Reacting to the incident, LAUTECH disclosed that the deceased was not a student of the university.

Clearing the air on the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Akin Fadeyi, while speaking to newsmen, on Tuesday night, stated that the incident did not happen within the institution.

He said the incident happened in club far from the vicinity of the University and has nothing to do with Lautech.

But, Fadeyi in his reaction said that
“According to what we had, the incident occurred around 2 am, it did not occur in the institution, it happened in a club and in LAUTECH we don’t have a club or hotel.

“They were fighting and the student who got killed is not our student. So, what happened had nothing to do with LAUTECH. It has nothing to do with our convocation.

“Information from town was that some people got engaged at a nightclub, far from the university premises, during which one of them got killed,” he said.
