Super Eagles Coach To Be Named Next Week — Gusau

• NFF President Gusau announces Super Eagles coach to be unveiled next week after inaugurating federation’s sub-committees in Abuja
• With Nigeria yet to appoint a substantive coach after Peseiro’s exit, indications suggest a foreign coach will take over

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Engr Ibrahim Gusau, has disclosed that the federation will announce the new Super Eagles coach next week.

Gusau made this revelation while speaking to a correspondent yesterday after inaugurating five of the Federation’s sub-committees at the Sunday Dankaro House at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Following Jose Peseiro’s exit in February upon the expiration of his contract, Nigeria has been without a substantive coach. In response, the NFF opened applications for the position, with several coaches applying. While the identity of the appointed coach remains undisclosed, indications from the federation suggest a foreign coach will succeed Peseiro.

Gusau stated, “The issue about the Super Eagles coaching will be resolved very soon. I think you had a little tip-off from the sports minister, who had said a maximum of the next two weeks. Now, we have one week, and by God’s grace, next week, we will get out of this.”

Additionally, Gusau urged the sub-committees of the governing body to brainstorm and devise fresh ideas, policies, and programs to elevate Nigerian football to greater levels of excellence.

He emphasized, “Football has become highly dynamic, and only great ideas will drive real growth and sustainability. The chairmen, vice-chairmen, and members of these committees must commit to bringing forth ideas that will take us further in our mission to take our game to the next level.”

Recognizing the impact of the digital age, Gusau informed the members that most of their meetings would be conducted virtually.

“We are not saying that you will never have physical meetings, but logistics, the reality of our situation at the moment, and convenience mean that most meetings will have to be held virtually,” he stated.
