  • The Kano State Judicial Commission of Enquiry plans to scrutinize the sales, disposal, or allocation of government property
  • Justice Farouk Adamu outlined the commission’s mandate, including reviewing the sales of various government-owned assets for irregularities

The Kano State Judicial Commission of Enquiry on the Recovery of Misappropriated Public Property and Assets has announced its plan to scrutinize the sales, disposal, or allocation of government property carried out by the previous administration in the state.

Justice Farouk Adamu, the commission’s chairman, made this declaration during yesterday’s inaugural session in Kano.

Governor Abba Yusuf inaugurated the commission on April 4, tasking it with investigating suspected cases of misappropriation of public property and assets from 2015 to 2023 during Abdullahi Ganduje’s.

Justice Farouk outlined the commission’s mandate, which includes reviewing the sales of government-owned assets such as praying grounds, historical and cultural sites, monuments, houses, workshops, graveyards, and other open lands or spaces within the metropolis.

The commission aims to ascertain whether any irregularities or abuses occurred during these processes and identify the officials or individuals responsible.

Justice Farouk clarified that the commission’s purpose is not to engage in witch-hunting or prosecution but to conduct a fact-finding mission.

He assured all concerned parties of the commission’s commitment to impartiality and fairness, urging individuals with relevant information to submit it in writing for verification and potential testimony before the commission.
