The National Examinations Council (NECO) has entered into discussions with the University of Birmingham and Lead City University to explore the possibility of using its examination results for admitting international students from Nigeria.

According to NECO’s Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi, the universities have reached out to assess the credibility of NECO’s examinations for potential use in their admissions processes.

While NECO has already met the requirements set by Birmingham City University, the process with Lead University is still ongoing.

In a related development, NECO is also working towards digitalization and the potential shift to Computer-Based Testing (CBT).

Meanwhile, NECO has assured stakeholders that it has put in place sophisticated mechanisms to prevent examination malpractices in its upcoming SSCE internal examinations.

Prof. Wushishi stated that there is no fear of exam leaks, thanks to improved data protection measures and enhanced identities to check malpractices.

“We are getting sophisticated identities to check malpractices as well as identify fishing sites to know if our papers leaked.

We have no fears of any malpractices in the conduct of our exams coming up in June,” he said.
