  • Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro suggests governance in Benue State is akin to a privately managed affair
  • Moro emphasizes the need for capable individuals to restore the PDP to power, cautioning against individual interests during elections

Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader representing Benue South Senatorial District, implied that governance in Benue State resembles a privately managed affair.

Speaking at an expanded meeting of the state People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Makurdi, Moro suggested that a single individual presently controls governance in Benue, although he refrained from naming names.

The meeting focused on strategizing for the party’s upcoming ward and local government congresses and the impending local government elections across all 23 councils in Benue.

Moro urged party supporters to redouble their efforts in restoring the PDP to power, citing the nation’s economic challenges, which he attributed to the federal government.

“We must select the most capable individuals to work for the party’s resurgence. What we witness in Benue is not governance but a one-man operation,” Moro emphasized.

He cautioned party members against succumbing to individual interests during the elections, stressing the importance of avoiding the imposition of unpopular candidates for the party’s collective welfare.

Former governors of the state, Gabriel Suswam and Samuel Ortom, echoed Moro’s concerns in their addresses, criticizing the national government’s economic policies for the currency devaluation and the rising cost of food.
