  • The Peace Corps of Nigeria highlights unemployment as a key factor worsening insecurity and urges urgent action for peace-building initiatives
  • National Commandant Dickson Akoh emphasizes the need for African leaders to address youth unemployment to mitigate its detrimental impact

The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) has highlighted the surge in unemployment as a pivotal factor exacerbating the prevailing insecurity within the nation.

According to the Corps, this challenge significantly impedes ongoing peace-building initiatives in Nigeria and across Africa, so urgent action is deemed imperative.

Dickson Akoh, the Corps’ National Commandant, underscored this concern during a recent gathering in Abuja. Hosting delegates from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Ghana, he emphasized the critical need to address this pressing issue.

Akoh stressed that African leaders must confront this alarming trend head-on due to its detrimental impact on the continent’s youth. He advocates for meaningful engagement as the primary antidote to this crisis.
