The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday named the just completed Southern Parkway from Christian Centre to Ring Road One, after President Bola Tinubu.
The southern parkway complements the northern parkway, the major arterial known as Sani Abacha road that runs across Mabushi and terminates at Life Camp.
He announced in his address at the commissioning ceremony of the project which was awarded for construction in 2012 under President Goodluck Jonathan.
The minister said the project was completed in line with the president’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, 13 years after construction commenced, adding that it would ease free flow of traffic in the FCT.
The naming of the road project comes as the President begins the commissioning of projects completed inner executed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Tinubu, who returned to Abuja from Lagos Tuesday, is scheduled to commission more FCT projects on Wednesday to mark his first anniversary in office.
