  • Pastor Sunday Emmanuel Abbah warns that Peter Obi’s credibility will suffer if he merges with Atiku Abubakar
  • Abbah stresses that incumbent leaders should not organize elections in which they are contestants, advocating for global democratic standards

A prominent member of the Young Peoples Party (YPP), Pastor Sunday Emmanuel Abbah, has cautioned that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, risks damaging his credibility if he proceeds with a merger plan with former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Abbah, who also leads the New Nigeria Network (NNN), expressed this concern during a media briefing and public presentation of two books, “The New Nigeria Project” and “The Privatised Presidency of Nigeria,” on Wednesday in Abuja.

“Nigerians sought an alternative to the PDP and APC, and the foundation of the Obidient movement wasn’t even the Labour Party,” Abbah remarked. “If Peter Obi genuinely stands for a New Nigeria, he should exclude Atiku from his plans and return to the people.”

Abbah, a YPP aspirant for the Kogi East Senatorial seat, also emphasized the importance of good governance by highlighting that incumbent presidents or governors in Nigeria should not participate in organizing elections in which they are contestants.
