  • NLC President Joe Ajaero urged state governors to emulate Kebbi State’s timely payment of salaries, gratuities, and pensions by mid-month
  • Ajaero praised Kebbi’s development, including hiring teachers and health workers and supporting indigent students despite low federal allocations

Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has urged state governors to emulate Kebbi State’s practice of paying salaries, gratuities, and pensions by the third week of every month.

During a visit to Birnin Kebbi, Ajaero led an NLC delegation on a fact-finding mission and expressed his admiration for the state’s treatment of civil servants.

Ajaero stated, “I call on other state governors to emulate Comrade Nasir Idris’s leadership in promoting development and ensuring the welfare of civil servants.”

He highlighted that despite Kebbi receiving the least allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), its level of development is impressive and commendable.

Ajaero also praised the governor for hiring 2,000 teachers and 4,000 health workers and renovating and constructing schools at various levels.

“We have also verified the payment of scholarships to indigent students studying in various tertiary institutions,” Ajaero added.
