Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has sanctioned a special promotion for Francis Ameh Igonoh, a Superintendent of Narcotics within the Agency. This promotion follows Igonoh’s prestigious win of the 2024 International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Outstanding Operational Success Award.
During a brief ceremony where Igonoh presented his award certificates to Marwa, the NDLEA boss commended his exemplary performance, stating that Igonoh has brought great honour to the agency and Nigeria.
Marwa emphasized the significance of Igonoh’s achievements in the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria. He praised the global recognition received for dismantling fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine cartels, attributing it to enhanced intelligence and collaboration with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by narcotic officers in securing society against the scourge of illicit drugs, Marwa expressed gratitude for their dedication and professionalism. He emphasized that their efforts directly contribute to creating safer streets and communities for future generations.
In recognition of Igonoh’s dedication and professionalism, Marwa announced his promotion to Assistant Commander of Narcotics, a level higher than his current rank as Chief Superintendent of Narcotics. This decision aims to encourage Igonoh and his colleagues further.
The award certificate, signed by Harward Lampley, Director of the West Africa Regional Training Center, praised Igonoh’s outstanding contributions, affirming that the recognition was well-deserved.
