Bandits terrorising Nigeria’s middle belt region have struck again in Niger State.

At least twenty six people were kidnapped when the armed non-state actors attacked communities in shiroro local government area.

Over two hundred cattle were also rustled during the invasion on Monday. The affected communities are around Tungan-Kawo.

The gunmen reportedly moved from one community to the other and from house to house selecting their victims, as well as the hundreds of cattle belonging to members of the villages.

A local, Mallam Abubakar, who witnessed the incident said the bandits attacked his community without any resistance having overpowered the security personnel in the area.

He lamented the atrocity of the bandits, saying they have dispossessed them of their world possessions and called on the government to end the menace.

“They abducted over twenty people from our communities and stole over two hundred cattle. We are at a loss with what is happening to us. When will the state government come to our aid”

” We are being attacked, killed and kidnapped on a daily basis, yet no help. When are both the state and federal governments going to act and rescue us and our lands from these monsters that have taken over everything from us? ” he asked.

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, Hussani Ibrahim.

Ibrahim said the agency got the report of the attacks on the communities at the same time as the collapsed mining site where one died and thirty were still trapped in the hole in Shiroro LG.

” We also are in receipt of reports of persistent banditry activities at Shiroro and Mashegu Local Government Areas, ” he disclosed

” On Sunday, 2nd June, This time, we received a report that a village called Adogo Mallam was attacked and six persons were kidnapped”

” Again, yesterday, 3rd June 3024, Tunga Kawo communities located 3 kilometres away from Erena of Shiroro LGA was also attacked. During the attack, over 20 persons were kidnapped with hundreds of cows rustled”
