  • The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, dismissed reports that the president fell, describing the incident as ‘mild misstep’

The Presidency has said an incident involving president Bola Tinubu’s mobility and stability at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration in Abuja was exaggerated.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, dismissed reports that the president fell while trying to board a parade vehicle, describing the incident as ‘mild misstep’.

In a post on his X handle on Wednesday, Olusegun reassured the public, stating that Tinubu went on with the business of the day without hiccups.

He said “Mr. President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”

The statement followed a viral video on Tuesday showing Tinubu tripping and falling after momentarily losing his footing while boarding a parade vehicle at Eagle Square during the celebration.

Despite the incident, the President quickly regained his balance and continued with the proceedings without further issues.

The ceremony at Eagles Square was a key event in the series of celebrations held nationwide to mark Nigeria’s annual Democracy Day
