The Kwara Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) has announced the conduct of elections for the offices of chairmen and councilors across the 16 LGAs of the state.

The elections would take place on September 21.

Prior to the election, political party primaries for the state’s LG elections will be held from June 24 to 30.

Okanla said that a meeting with political party leaders will be held on June 21, adding that parties must obtain and return nomination forms for chairmanship and councillorship elections from July 1 to 5.

The chairman of KWSIEC said that the verification of candidates’ credentials will take place from July 8-19, followed by the display of nominated candidates’ names from July 22-26, and training of ad-hoc staff from July 27-31.

He said that political parties have until August 5 to withdraw candidates if need be, with August 6 billed as last day for publication of the final list of nominated candidates.

Okanla said campaigns will run from August 19 to September 19, adding that certificate of return will issued on September 23.
