President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Thursday evening from Johannesburg, South Africa, where he attended the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa for a second term. Tinubu arrived in Abuja around 5:30 PM.

Previously, Tinubu had traveled from Abuja to Lagos for the Eid-el-Kabir festivities and then left for Johannesburg on Wednesday to attend Ramaphosa’s inauguration.

In South Africa, aside from attending the ceremony, Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with Ramaphosa at his hotel. According to a statement from Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the two leaders discussed the similar challenges faced by African countries and agreed on the need for collaboration to address these issues.

According to the statement, President Tinubu noted that President Ramaphosa’s inaugural speech captured most of the challenges faced by African countries and the need for more collaboration among leaders and citizens to provide solutions.
