The minister said the practice of staff begging and extorting travellers sullies the reputation of the nation and brings it name into disrepute.

In a post on his official X handle, he claimed that his cell phone beeps every minute with messages from concerned citizens who continue to complain about the matter.

The minister, however, said those indulging in these ignoble and embarrassing acts are not under the control of his ministry but he is liaising with other government agencies and officials to address the anomaly.
