  • Rivers is engulfed in a political crisis over a power tussle between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, his successor, who is now the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).
  • During the visit, Kalu said Fubara and Wike needed to end their feud to avert anarchy in the state.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has called for peace in Rivers State, urging conflicting parties to put aside their differences.

Kalu made this plea during a courtesy visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday.

He stressed the significance of peace and reconciliation, emphasizing that it is crucial for the well-being of the state.

Kalu specifically advised Governor Fubara to reconcile with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

He believes that reconciliation would be in the best interest of Rivers State and its people.

By urging the parties to sheathe their swords, Kalu hopes to see a peaceful resolution to the conflicts in Rivers State.

He informed the Rivers governor of his plan to involve President Bola Tinubu in facilitating a speedy reconciliation process.

Kalu lauded Fubara’s commitment to the growth of Rivers State and further urged the governor to continue prioritizing the welfare of the people.

He said, “Governor Fubara, your leadership has shown great promise, and it is evident that you have the people’s best interests at heart.

“I encourage you to maintain peace and work towards reconciliation with former governor Wike.

“Such unity will undoubtedly strengthen the state and foster an environment conducive to growth and development. I also promise to get President Tinubu involved to ensure a speedy reconciliatory process.”
