  • EFCC chairman had earlier ordered the arrest of the two officers, immediately after the video started circulating on Thursday, June 27, 2024

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), said it would, on Monday, July 1, 2024, commence the investigation of two of its officers seen in a viral video assaulting a female staff of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos.

The spokesperson of EFCC, Dele Oyewale, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said this followed the inauguration of a joint disciplinary team by the chairman of the Commission, Ola Olukoyede, to look into the matter

The EFCC chairman had earlier ordered the arrest of the two officers, immediately after the video started circulating on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

The statement noted that the team would investigate and recommend appropriate disciplinary measures to be taken against the officers.

The statement reads in parts: “Olukoyede ordered the arrest of the two officers and has directed them to appear before a joint disciplinary team comprising the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee and the Department of Ethics and Integrity.

“They are billed to appear before the team on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Corporate Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja.

“Olukoyede stressed that no stone will be left unturned in getting the officers to account for their unprofessional conduct.”
