  • The APC Chairman in Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, asserted that the APC is now more united and popular and is confident of significantly increasing its vote share in the 2027 presidential election
  • Abbas criticized the NNPP-led government’s performance in Kano, stating that Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration failed to deliver tangible projects and distracted the public with the emirate law controversy instead

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, has responded to comments made by his New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) counterpart, Hashimu Dungurawa. Dungurawa suggested that the ongoing emirship tussle might negatively impact President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 election.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, Abbas asserted that the APC is now more united and popular and is confident of significantly increasing its vote share in the next presidential election. He emphasized that the APC would deliver three times the votes it secured in the last presidential election in Kano. Abbas criticized Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and NNPP national leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for their governance approach.

He said, “The crisis of confidence rocking the factionalized opposition NNPP and its embattled leader, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, is embarrassingly exposing its dismal failure, even as it is boasting of clinching the nation’s presidency come 2027.”

Abbas reassured President Tinubu and the APC national leadership of the party’s growing strength in Kano, stating, “Kano State APC is now more united and popular and is daily attracting politically valuable people into our fold. We are ready and will deliver more than triple of the votes we got in the 2023 presidential election.”

He criticized the NNPP-led government’s performance in Kano, stating that Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration failed to deliver tangible projects and distracted the public with the emirate law controversy. Abbas said, “It is public knowledge that while other state governors were commissioning one project or the other to mark their one year in office, the NNPP Kano State government was busy distracting the good people of Kano from its obvious failures through the contentious emirate law as a tactic from its inadequacies in office.”

Abbas also questioned Kwankwaso’s ability to win a presidential election, suggesting he lacks the necessary influence and national appeal.
