Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has issued a stern warning to his newly constituted cabinet members. He states that any commissioner who fails to meet his administration’s expectations will be promptly removed from office.

During the 130th session of the state executive council at Government House in Yenagoa on Wednesday, Governor Diri emphasized the importance of aligning with his administration’s vision of providing effective service to the people of Bayelsa. He noted that his administration’s policies and programs positively impact the state’s residents.

The governor urged the new cabinet members to prioritize service to the state, expressing his delight and encouragement at the people of Bayelsa’s positive reception of his administration’s developmental projects. He highlighted key projects such as the ongoing construction of the Nembe-Brass road, the completed Sagbama-Ekeremor road, and the building and equipping of science, technical, and vocational schools. These, among other initiatives, demonstrate his administration’s commitment to development across various sectors.

Governor Diri expressed confidence in the new commissioners, stating they were carefully chosen based on their qualifications and track records. He also emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving the administration’s goals.

“You have joined this executive council when so much is expected of us. You are our eyes and ears in the ministries,” Diri stated. “Any member of the state executive council that does not work in tandem with the policies and vision of this government will wield the big stick. As you were carefully chosen, you are all men of integrity, and we believe you will perform well.”

He further acknowledged the support of the people of Bayelsa in creating an enabling environment for his administration to thrive. “Policies and programs cannot be achieved except the people accept them. We are encouraged because the people appreciate the work we are doing. We do not praise ourselves, but our work is speaking for us,” he added.
