Abdul-azeez Suleiman, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) spokesman, has urged northern youths to learn from the mistakes of past leaders and advocate for reforms to improve society. Suleiman made these remarks during the Leadership Summit organized by the Zaria Local Government Students Association (ZASA).

In his address, Suleiman emphasized the youth’s potential to instigate necessary changes in a society where older generations have become complacent or stuck in outdated ways of thinking. He highlighted the importance of challenging the status quo, questioning authority, and holding those in power accountable.

Suleiman encouraged the youth to initiate change from within rather than placing blame on past leaders for the current state of affairs. “Instead of blaming past leaders for the current state of affairs, it is crucial to learn from their mistakes and strive to do better,” he said.

He also emphasized the significance of northern identity, urging the youth to take pride in it without arrogance. Suleiman highlighted the region’s immense potential, rich history of resilience, and strength while acknowledging its limitations and challenges. He called for collective efforts to address these challenges.

“Past leaders have made sacrifices and stood up for the rights of northerners, and it is essential to learn from their bravery and courage. Unity is the key to our progress, and we must be willing to respect all Nigerians’ identities while defending our rights with dignity and resolve,” Suleiman added.
