President Bola Tinubu formally received former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday.
Anyim, previously a Secretary to the Government of the Federation during President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The reception took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with Anyim presented by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru. Anyim emphasized the need for collective effort to advance Nigeria, stating, “We all should put hands together to move the country forward.”
Anyim announced his defection on July 13, 2024, leading a large group of supporters, including former lawmakers and governorship candidates, into the APC during a campaign finale in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
APC leaders, including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Uzodimma, Governor Nwifuru, Minister of Works David Umahi, and State Chairman Stanley Emegha, welcomed the new members into the party.
