President Tinubu receives invitation for state visit to China

  • Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the invitation via his official X handle on Friday

Chinese leader President Xi Jinping has extended an invitation to President Bola Tinubu for a state visit to China in September.

The invitation was delivered by China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chen Xiaodong, during a visit to the Aso Villa on Thursday.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the invitation via his official X handle on Friday.

According to the statement, President Tinubu has accepted the invitation, expressing hope that the visit will strengthen Nigeria-China bilateral relations and advance the proposed currency swap agreement.

The statement also noted that President Xi Jinping has extended the invitation to include Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, who is also expected to join the state visit.
