  • The federal and state governments, including President Bola Tinubu, have appealed to the youths to shelve the planned protest.
  • Religious and traditional institutions have equally called for the cancellation of the planned demonstration.

A group of patriotic and responsible Nigerian youths, under the umbrella of Change Nigeria Now (CNN), has announced plans to hold a nationwide protest on August 1, 2024, to demand an end to bad governance and mismanagement of public funds.

According to a statement released by the convener, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, the protest, dubbed “Days of Rage,” aims to hold those in power accountable for their actions and demand concrete actions to address pressing issues affecting the nation.

The group accused previous administrations of squandering public funds on frivolous ventures, neglecting basic needs, and perpetuating a culture of waste, corruption, and nepotism.

Despite attempts by some groups to discourage participation, the CNN remains determined to lead the charge for change, emphasizing that the protest is peaceful and not a call to violence or chaos.
