President Bola Tinubu said his government has made significant strides in reviving and rebuilding Nigeria’s economy.

Tinubu said the aggregate government revenues have increased significantly, hitting over 9.1 trillion Naira in the first half of 2024 compared to the first half of 2023.

Speaking on Sunday during his nationwide broadcast to Nigerians, he stated that activities and operations in the non-oil sector are beginning to pick up and stakeholders in the sector are leveraging the opportunities provided by his administration.

He said: “In the past 14 months, our government has made significant strides in rebuilding the foundation of our economy to carry us into a future of plenty and abundance.

“On the fiscal side, aggregate government revenues have more than doubled, hitting over 9.1 trillion Naira in the first half of 2024 compared to the first half of 2023 due to our efforts at blocking leakages, introducing automation, and mobilising funding creatively without additional burden on the people.

“Productivity is gradually increasing in the non-oil sector, reaching new levels and taking advantage of the opportunities in the current economic ambience.”

The statement comes amid nationwide protests that have gripped the country.

Nigerians in many states of the Federation embark on a nationwide protest, which commenced on August 1, 2024.

The organisers of the protest have lamented about widespread hunger and inflation in the country
