The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN), has reacted to a viral video which captures an official of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, begging a passenger for money at the airport.

Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, in a statement on Wednesday, said such behaviour is totally unacceptable.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that a yet-to-be-identified Immigration Service officer was caught on camera persistently begging a tourist for money at the International Airport and was even ready to collect card payment.

Reacting, Kuku said the officer in question has been withdrawn from his duty post and is currently facing disciplinary action with the NIS.

“The officer in question has been immediately withdrawn from duty at the terminal and is currently facing disciplinary action with the NIS.

“We are committed to maintaining the integrity and professionalism of all personnel working at our airports.
