  • The announcement was made on Thursday

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) led by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria’s President, is set to provide a recapitalisation grant to about 37,000 women nationwide.

The initiative aims to empower women economically by granting N50,000 each to 1,000 women in every state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The announcement was made on Thursday during the symbolic presentation of food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), people living with disabilities, and vulnerable groups in Benue State. The event was attended by the Vice President’s wife, Mrs. Nana Shettima, who represented the President’s wife.

Senator Tinubu stated that the grant is part of RHI’s broader economic empowerment program to support petty traders and improve food security in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind.

“I am pleased to inform you that the governing council of the Renewed Hope Initiative has graciously approved a business re-capitalisation grant of N50,000 for 1,000 women petty traders in each state and the FCT to support their businesses,” she said. The program is scheduled for a nationwide launch on August 22.

As part of the initiative, a truckload of assorted food items was also donated for distribution to targeted groups in Benue State. Senator Tinubu encouraged beneficiaries to make the most of the items provided.

In response, Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, expressed gratitude for the support and assured that the state government would complement the efforts by ensuring fair distribution of the items to the most vulnerable.

Governor Alia commended President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their continuous support to the state, noting that the Renewed Hope Initiative has already made a significant impact in Benue.
