  • Professor Pat Utomi alleges former Governor Amosun’s cancellation of a contract led to his financial loss and the suicide of a prominent indigene
  • Utomi criticized Amosun for breaching contract terms, claiming it resulted in significant personal losses and embarrassment for the Ogun State government

Professor of Political Economy, Pat Utomi, has alleged that a prominent Ogun State indigene took his own life after the cancellation of a contract during the tenure of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Utomi shared his personal experience, revealing that he had to repay millions of naira in loans after Amosun allegedly terminated his contract with the Ogun State government. Utomi’s reaction comes in light of recent comments by Amosun regarding the controversial arbitration and legal matters between the Chinese firm Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd and the Federal Government of Nigeria/Ogun State Government. The dispute centers on terminating a contract at the Ogun/Guangdong Free Trade Zone.

The contract, initiated in 2007 under Governor Gbenga Daniel, was terminated in 2016 during Amosun’s administration.

Taking to his X account (formerly Twitter), Utomi criticized Amosun for canceling his contract with the Ogun State government similarly to the Chinese firm.
