  • The foremost and mainstream Yoruba group noted that contemporary technology was not being deployed in tackle insecurity

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has lamented the deepening security crisis in the country.

The organisation, while bemoaning the kidnap of medical students at Otukpo Benue State, stated that Nigeria’s security architecture needed overhauling to put an end to the menace of insecurity.

The foremost and mainstream Yoruba group noted that contemporary technology was not being deployed in tackle insecurity.

Afenifere made their position known in a communique issued at the end of its caucus meeting held at the Akure country home of its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

The organisation also clamoured for the licencing of South-west security outfit, Amotekun, to bear sophisticated weapon.

The communique signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, said, “Afenifere also advocated for the licencing of Amotekun to carry lethal weapons. There should be greater cooperation between Amotekun and other security agencies.

“Command and control posts be installed across all the local government areas so that information can be shared in real time, as is done in many developed and not-so-developed countries.”

Afenifere equally urged the Federal Government to show seriousness in its quest to tackle the high cost of living in the country.
