‘To tackle unemployment’ — Uba Sani sets up development council in Kaduna

The Council comprises representatives from government, education, and technical institutions, and is chaired by the governor.

  • The governor said the construction of vocational and technology skills acquisition cities in Rigachikun, Samaru Kataf, and Soba had reached advanced stages and would provide training in various vocational and technical skills.
  • He also announced that the remodelled Panteka Market in Tudun-Wada would serve as a major centre for skills acquisition and job creation.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has established the Kaduna State Skills Development Council to bridge the skills gap and tackle youth unemployment in the state.

The council, which is headed by the governor, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for skills development and acquisition in the state.

Governor Sani explained that the council will develop a comprehensive framework, implementation plan, and annual action plans to address the skills deficit and youth unemployment in the state.

In his remarks, Sani emphasized the need to invest in human capital to equip young people with the skills required to thrive in the 21st century and contribute to the state’s economic development.

The governor announced that the state is building vocational and technology skills acquisition centers in Rigachikun, Samaru Kataf, and Soba, which will offer training in various technical and vocational skills.

He also revealed that the renovated Panteka Market in Tudun-Wada will serve as a hub for skills acquisition and job creation, providing opportunities for young people to develop their skills and become self-sufficient.

Sani expressed his commitment to addressing the skills deficit in the state, ensuring that young people have the necessary skills to fill positions in industries and businesses.

He highlighted the long-term benefits of the skills development centers, including employment generation and economic growth, and expressed confidence in the council’s ability to deliver on its mandate.

The Kaduna State Skills Development Council is composed of representatives from government, education, and technical institutions, and is chaired by the governor.

The council’s membership includes government officials, education leaders, and technical experts, and is supported by a secretariat led by the Senior Special Assistant (Support Services).
