  • APC Chairman Ganduje expresses confidence in winning the Edo governorship election, citing strong political strategy and internal conflicts within the PDP
  • Ganduje emphasizes the APC’s plans to expand influence in the South-East, targeting Anambra State for future political gains

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the upcoming Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21.

Speaking on Thursday while receiving the leadership of the Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by its Chairman, Aminu Garko, Ganduje asserted that the APC has established a strong political strategy to secure a significant win for its candidate.

“I believe our campaign is in high spirits; we are getting ready for that election, and we believe we will be able to recover our state,” said Ganduje. “This is because it was an APC state, but we lost it to the PDP due to internal conflicts. We are confident that we will regain it.”

He also commented on the party’s preparations for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State in November, stating, “Ondo is already an APC state, and when the former Governor passed away, he left behind several challenges. However, we were able to resolve those issues, conduct successful primaries, and present the candidate that the people desire.”

Ganduje emphasized that winning Edo would bring the APC’s control to 21 of Nigeria’s 36 states. He further revealed the party’s plans to expand its influence in the Southeast geopolitical zone, specifically targeting Anambra State, which has been governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for many years.

“The North and South-East geopolitical zones have been claiming marginalization,” Ganduje noted. “But we are telling them that this marginalization has been self-inflicted. How can you have five states governed by four different political parties? What kind of political leverage does that offer?”

He added that the APC is working diligently to gain more states from the South-East zone, beginning with Anambra. “We already have Ebonyi and Imo under our control. Now, we are making inroads into that zone to capture more states. If everything goes as planned, we aim to control all the regional states,” Ganduje declared.
