The Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara has passed away.
According to reports, Ayilara died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja after a long hard-fought battle with cancer.
Sources who are privy to the development disclosed that he underwent a prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday before he died hours later.
”We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara is dead,” a family member told newsmen.
The Nigerian police is yet to issue a statement on his demise but more information regarding the development is expected to trickle in in the coming hours.
